Personal Success Definition

I define success as contributing to the working class struggle by fighting or working for rights and humanities while others would seek to exploit and profit endlessly.

Che Guevara achieved success by liberating Cuba from their oppressors and later continuing to fight for freedom in the Congo before being brutalized by American interests in Bolivia and buried in a unmarked grave before his body was recovered.

Skills For Success

In his life Che acquired many skills. He studied medicine becoming a physician before traveling the South America twice. In the Cuban revolution he proved himself a quintessential military strategist with his leadership and organization leading to the victory of the Bay of Pigs. His skill as a thinker are still today insightful with his contributions to Marxist thinking such as his idea of a “new man” driven by morals rather than the commodification of himself or other material incentives.

How They Used These Skills

Che used his skills in governance and diplomacy to establish equitable and economically progressive Cuban society where he held the position of Finance Minister and President of the National Bank where he advocated for progressive ideas such as gender-blindness, anti-consumerism, anti-imperialism, and egalitarianism. As director of the Instruction Department of Revolutionary Armed Forces he prepared Cuban people to defend themselves from coming colonial attacks, his leadership and instruction was instrumental to the Bay of Pigs and the larger effort against counter-revolutionaries domestically. He also became a accomplished diplomat speaking to the UN and traveling to nearly every major nation being called a “revolutionary statesmen of world stature”, he famously spoke at the UN in 1964 condemning South Africa’s Apartheid and the US’s policy towards their black population as-well as the breach’s of international sovergity by the West

Challenges Overcome

Che fought in 3 armed revolutions, losing his life in the 3rd. His experience as a revolutionary warfighter and a Combat Medic brought him to long guerilla campaigns against seemingly insurmountable odds spending countless days and nights marching and fighting in rugged terrain saving lives of his comrades. Same as Castro experienced many assassination attempts so did Che with one involving a Woman trying to sneak into his hotel with a 7 inch hunting knife and another when a Man on a boat attempted to hit him with a Bazooka, both of these attempts were during his trip to speak to the UN.
